NSCS at Bristol race recap

Ladies and gentlemen we have a new rivalry in NASCAR. Carl Edwards win on Saturday was his sixth win of the year, but that is not what everyone is talking about; it was how he won and who he beat to win. With thirty laps to go Carl Edwards did the unthinkable - he beat Kyle Busch at his own game.

After leading 415 laps Kyle Busch was pushed aside by Carl Edwards in a move that did not sit well with Busch as he would show once he caught Edwards. With thirty laps to go Edwards, after many laps of trying a “clean “ approach, got into the back of Busch and moved him up the track taking the lead. Carl would hang on to the win and close the gap in the championship standings. Now that alone could have been looked at as payback for the way Busch “moved” Edwards in the past, but it was more the way Busch retaliated, buy slamming into Edwards and Edwards spinning him out in return that has given birth to this rivalry.

Kyle Busch would go on to say that Edwards gets away with these types of things because he has a good guy image and apologizes. Not this time, Edwards made it very clear how he felt after the race.

"Let's make it real clear: I'm not apologizing for it. I feel like the score's even and it just cost him more than it cost me at the time." Edwards said after the race.

You know what makes Edwards so much better then Busch is that after the race he said I did it and I would do it again. There is no real way to interpret that other then the way it was attended. Kyle Busch, who has done this to many in his short career, only threatened to get even. If this run-in did only one thing it showed that the nice guy doesn’t always finish last as long as he isn’t afraid to ruffle a few feathers. Seems to me the only person this hurt was Kyle Busch as, Edwards came off looking like a true racer. Not only did he admit what he did (and didn’t apologize) but he "understood" Kyle’s frustration.
