Chip Ganassi Racing Team Background: One of the more international teams, Chip Ganassi prides himself not only in his 25 years of experience in racing, but in the innovative methods of his team as well. With a young team and less then optimal equipment, Ganassi has been able to continue to push his team to make a name for themselves and not just for CGR. Joined with the forces of Felix Sabates, a successful Cuban American, CGR is ramping up quickly to try and take NASCAR by storm.

CGR has been in operation for 18 years and has had 11 drivers from 6 different countries. They have posted 130 victories in those 18 years including 3 Indy 500 wins.

A management move brought Steve Hmeil from DEI to join Ganassi as it manager of competition, bringing some serious veteran experience to the table to the very young team. Dario Franchitti is a rookie this year, Montoya was a rookie last year and Sorenson is only in his third year.
